Einar Kr. Gudfinnsson Minister of Fisheries believes whaling is still an option since there is a market for whale meat abroad. The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir believes that Icelanders are sacrificing more benefits for less by keeping on whaling.
